For a Christmas present, I bought both of my children who had newborn babies, AAA because their cars were older and I rested better knowing they had some kind of assistance should they break down.
Well, it happened to my son on his way to Greensboro, NC (approx. 80 miles from home). He was stranded with his 3 month old daughter in the middle of a serious cold spell on the side of ther road. I received a frantic phone call from him and he asked me to contact AAA for him because he was broke down, no power to his car and he'd been on hold with them for 20 minutes and his cell phone was dying with no way to charge it and they suggested his need would be responded to faster if he went to their web-site and the car was getting cold inside... WHAT...
So I called AAA for him and sure enough, I was put on hold for 20 minutes with a recording suggesting I go to their web-site for faster services...
Oh my goodness... What a waste of money and time... And my poor family...
During my wait, I had contacted a local AAA Tow Service and told them my dilemna who found me a phone number for a AAA Tow Service nearest my son and his stranded family. During this time, a AAA phone rep came on and asked questions that I couldn't answer such as the model of the car... Well I didn't know the model... I knew it was a silver Toyota sitting on the side of this named road at a certain mile marker with my cold family and their newborn baby. This was not adequate enough and she was insistant on more info about this vehicle... WHAT..
Then she said they would not pay for the services unless they called in the request, not me.
Now mind you, an hour had already passed by since my family had broke down in 28 degree weather with a newborn, from being put on hold.
So to keep this short, with the help of my local AAA Towing Service who connected us with the AAA Towing nearest my son, I found services for my son... NOT AAA...
So if you need assistance from AAA, I suggest you buy a Laptop and subscribe to a wireless internet before you purchase a membership to AAA...
Aaa did not help... They are a waste of money... If you can get services from your insurance company, i suggest you do.
