Sick Turtles, Bad Service

Birdcages for Less at 715 Highway 49 in Richland, Mississippi may seem like a nice enough place. I went in there on 5-15 and bought two Water Turtles, as well as all of the equipment needed for the turtles, and a book telling about turtle care. Well after reading the book I started looking at my turtles, they were covered in sores and their eyes were swollen almost shut. I knew at that point that my turtles I purchased were sick, and I paid $10.00 each for the two of them, not to mention the thirty dollars in supplies. Within two days my turtles were dead.

Now I work most of the week and I was not keeping two dead turtles to return to the pet store a whole week, so I returned today simply to alert them to the issue. I did not even ask for my money back. I told him what happened, and he had the nerve to ask me why I would buy a turtle I knew was sick, I told him that I did not know it was sick until I read the book that his store provided. I then told him that I had checked all the other turtles that he was selling in his store appeared to have the same sores and swelling, and he promptly told me that his turtles were not sick, if so they would have died. My point is that the turtles he is selling are sick, and he should at least have them checked before people spend money like I did for creatures that are not going to do anything but die as soon as they make it home.

Now I am not going to make accusations, but if they are knowingly selling sick turtles, it leads me to wonder about the apparent health of the other creatures in the store Buyer Beware!!!
