Incompetent Hustle

This comes late - my experience with AAA Van Lines out of GA was last year. But I can't keep this to myself any longer.

I dealt with a glib salesman who made promises totally out of thin air. For instance, he gave me - twice - a pick-up day and time. On that day, the dispatcher called and informed me that he knew nothing of this arranged time. He said the movers would be there by 2:00 P.M. For seven more hours after that, the movers called; their job in Nashville hadn't packed so they were doing it. I had to alter my travel plans at my own expense.

In the interim period, I contacted AAA several times with the delivery date. This was acknowledged several times in turn by the office. On that day, nothing. The dispatcher rudely told me it was impossible. I slept on the floor that night. The next day these movers called a lot, unable to find my basic, midtown Atlanta address. Then, as they began unloading, I was told I had to pay an extra $80 for the length of the hall. I said, fine. As they had already billed me completely on my cards, I told them to simply add it. Nope. They insisted on cash which I didn't have. Panicked, I called the owner, who literally yelled at me. He nastily told me it had been my responsibility to read the whole contract and yelled over my saying that, as the pick-up guys were so late, I barely made it to my flight out of TN.

In the end these movers left with my sofa and at least one antique table in tow. I never saw these items again. The funniest part was how they refused to wait 10 minutes for a friend to bring me the cash, as they ran a tight schedule.indeed.
