Unauthorized billing for unordered voicemail Ponte Vedraponte Vedra Beach

Our AT&T phone bill is on autopay so it doesn't get checked every month. We had added some services and some promotions were expiring and I wanted to see what the damages were.in addition to the expected charges there was an item from ILD: $13.22 for Enhanced Voicemail. I didn't know how it got there or how long we had been charged for it.By the time I had checked with the wife and got around to calling another bill had come. More charges for voicemail we didn't need or want and hadn't ordered.

I called the number provided on the phone bill and asked them how this unneeded unwanted item got on the bill. Out of the blue this ILD rep says who's (my sisters name) and tells me my mothers maiden name and gives me a birthdate that's not my sisters. The woman says someone clicked on a web promotion for "$1000 dollars of grocery coupons" that's why I'm being billed. Sis is not that stupid.

No one but my wife or I can authorize new services or charges to our phone. OH yes on the unregulated portion of the bill they can. Oh no. OH YES.

Emotion raises the pitch and volume of my voice DO I NEED TO CALL THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY. I'll be right back sir (short pause) We've discontinued your service no more charges will appear on your bill. WHAT ABOUT THE BACK CHARGES
The account will be credited please allow up to 90 days for it to appear.

Just to be sure I called billing at AT&T they put the credited amount on hold and subtracted it from the current bill but I might still get overdue notices.
Can they put a third party billing block on my bill so it doesn't happen again?

In Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas the billing dept can't do it.

What if I cancel my AT&T phone service. Sure enough after a 15 min wait a sympathetic phone cancellation rep was able to place a 3rd party block on my bill so this won't happen again. ILD may not be involved but it was their rep who hard timed me.

ILD is a third party billing service that handles Enhanced Voicemail, meteline tech, Voicemail Professionals, Nationwide Voicemail, USA voicemail, United voicemail which may all be part of the same scam since there are complaints about all of them on this sight. Many more at consumeraffairs site.

If you have a similar problem please persevere don't be a victim. FCC can't help with voicemail. FTC, Attorney general, BBB, might if they get enough complaints.
