Misrepresentation-advertisers beware

Shops, Products, Services

As a small business owner, I got a call from a very long winded woman who wanted to offer me a trial basis to advertise on yellowpages.com. We spoke for about 2 1/2 hours regarding. She told me the benefits of using the paid advertising vs the non paid as well as the premium vs the non premium.

The premium spot would cost me $91 per month and I would be able to cancel in writing at any time and she assured me many hits on my site from the spot. I made sure that I was able to cancel without penalties as I do not have $91 a month to give out for something that does not work.

After having received their first "hit tracking" email and saw that I got all of 2 hits from their ad in one month, I then received a bill for the money and wrote right on the bill that I wanted to cancel the ad as 2 hits is not worth $91!

I then get a letter from this supposed lawyer stating that I owed yellowpages.com over 1,000.00!!! Stating that if I cancelled the whole 12 mo contract is up and that I agreed to this in a voice recording.

I KNOW for a fact that I would NOT agree to this. I am not big money, I am a very small business owner, trying to make it and understand that most advertising is not what they promise. I would not have agreed! The supposed lawyer says she will investigate the voice recording to which I have never received copy. She now tells me I agreed to the terms and owe the money. Says she investigated the voice recording.

I know I would not do this. I believe she never investigated that voice recording or if they do have one, they manipulated it to say what they wanted it to. Looking at the other yellowpages.com usacomplaints.com, it looks as though they do this often.

Just be careful. There is nothing this company can get from me. Do not do business with this company, they are crooked.
