Four weeks ago, I found a horse that someone forwarded to me to check out. They knew I was looking for a great kid horse. The ad was on www.dreamhorse.com. It described the horse as a great kids horse, look no further kind of adI called and she said she had just sold that horse but that she had just one other horse that she needed to find a home for. I asked her why she was selling him here is her story

She said they had lost their farm and needed to move to a smaller one where they couldn't keep as many horses. She said her daughter had two horses, a white one that was blind in one eye and this 7 year old TWH. She said her daughter wanted to keep the white horse because she was afraid since he was blind that he'd end up slaughtered or put down. (Ahhh, heart strings being manipulated here) Her daughter hated to part with Chance but as long as it was a good home.

She said she had known him since birth and she was the only owner besides the breeder who she was good friends with. Chance had spent the last five years as a saddle club horse her daughter had taken him every Friday night that they had it and showed him many times. He never bucked or gave them any vices. She also said that although she charged $800 for a 12 year old registered quarterhorse. She had to charge $1500 because Chance (unregistered) was only 7 years old.

Yes, I was foolish and believed her. I do have to say that I had just bought a horse sight unseen 12 weeks prior and she is a GEM, came from a great family and I knew her entire background (all former owners and talked to each one. Great experience)

I couldn't let this great kids horse go to someone else (she let me know she already had another buyer for him because he was such a a great horse) so I bought him. When we met to pick him up, he did not look as good as the picture. I had requested more pictures of him, but all the pictures she sent were of her daughter on Chance in the same outfit on the same day not more than 2 months ago, flag number two going up here.

When I met the seller in person I had an immediate pit in my stomach, but pits in stomach don't hold up in court. I did know I could not refuse this horse, he'd go back to her and I'd never see a dime of my money. I took him home and my vet gave him a thorough check up. He's not 7 he's 13 atleast.

I immediately called the seller and she started retracting everything she had told me and even changing the story. She had no clue who she bought the horse from (first story was that they were good friends) and her vet who did the Coggins checked his teeth and put his age down as 7. I called her vet and he disputed this, he said he had never seen the horse before and that she was suspicious in that she changed the name of the horse from Buddy to Chance when they were filling out the paperwork. He said he wrote down the age that she told him that he never looked at the horse's teeth.

Fast forward... The owner refused to call me back or return my emails. I decided to do a google for her email and immediately another complaint about her came up. It was from a lady who accused her of drugging a horse and selling it as a safe mount but the horse bucked everyone off. I shared my story on that same website and within 30 minutes there was a response from the seller defending herself.

She denied being a horse trader but yet she could not produce a picture of her child with this "family horse" they've had for 5 years other than the pictures taken all that same day... Very recently. She also had promised to get me the name of the person she bought him from, but then said she had no clue who she bought it from and could not find that information out... She said I got what I paid for and stop complaining.

So I did even more investigating, contacting local horse dealers, sheriff, auction house, farriers, vetsI have found out that this lady gets these horses from the auction house. I found that she had put 4 more horses up for sale on 2/4 on another three other websites and changed her location.in fact, she had her daughter again posed on one of the horses insinuating that it was a kids horse etc.

She is selling anywhere from 4-8 horses a month, I have contacted the TN agriculture state dept. And they are pursuing putting pressure on her for not having a license. I don't know if that will curb her racket but at the very least folks need to be aware of this lady and her practices. Here is a thread that I (ma23peas) responded to help others, in the past two days there have been over 100 posts on this issue. You can read for yourself the words from the seller and make your own judgment. I am only seeking to inform others of my experience and the fraud that was committed against me.

She has changed the name of her farm name to Lake View Farms and has moved from Watertown, to Smithville and now shows Dowelltown, she was under the name of Crescent Moon farms when I bought the horse. Her name is Angela L Jones and she is in Smithville or Dowelltown, TN. I believe it is highly dangerous to take a horse off the auction, claim it has been your family horse for five years (having owned it less than 2 months if that, just gathering that time frame from when she took the picture of Chance. All the leaves were off the trees. So it could not have been more than 2 months ago... If not the week before I bought him..in fact, I think she claimed she took those pictures a week before she sold him to me!) and market it as a bombproof kids horse. Many families are looking for kidbroke horses... She's playing on that and selling potentially dangerous horses.

Please if you deal with this person, bring a vet, bring a trainer, visit her when she does not expect you or show up 2 hours early to view the horse... Do all you can to make sure you KNOW what you're buying.
