Ars, their abusive habits california california

In 1992, i tried to pay off all my credit cards. 1992.. I had a credit card with steinbach dept store, which for the last 10 years or more have since closed. I assumed i had paid them also, but i am not sure, i am trying to find canceled checksor just plain paperwork for that year, 16 years ago. Last year, i started recieving letters from ars saying that i ows them for $2200.00 i am still searching thry old papers, i did find that if, if there was a balance it was 242.00 i can't begin to tell you how nasty and arrogant they are, they first started call my brothers house 12 times a day. I called them since i didn't know who they were, and then the calls started on me. They have a recorded message that just dials your number oh about every 20 mins. Upon speaking to them i told them i needed time to try to find these papers, but that didin't matter, the calls continued, when i started screaming at them to stop harrassing, they told me to act like a lady. 5 mins after that phone call, they called again. Do they have a right to come after someone after 16 years, when the dcredit reports took it off my reports, one report i did find, stated that they cloded the account and posted it as a loss. How do they have the right to come looking for you 16 years later, most people save papers and records for 7-10 years the most, how i have some of these papers or why, i really don't know but the point is, these people are nasty and ruthless.
