Fighting a judgement against a company that you don't owe $ to

OK here is the skinny on the deal. A was remodeling a home in Fl and was contacted by a company to install a new A/C unit. I never signed a contract rather only a email agreeing to a deal. They started the job 2/14/07. We had many issues in which the end result was a unit that did not cool the home.in fact air circulation in one rear bedroom was nil. I spoke with the manager a few times and ultimatley stopped hearing from them. I later contacted them again to see what was up, the manaer had been replaced. This new guy seemed interested in fixing the issue. He verbally suggested a few ideas to me and my wife. When I contacted him a few days later he was no longer willing to help (this is august of 07 mind you).instead in a conversation he stated that he would be filing a lein against the property if I did not pay. The company (one hour air) did file a lein and I filed a contest of lein. Here is a funny for you. When you call the company the greeting is "one hour air, always on time or you don't pay a day".

Well anyway the contest of lein was never contested by the company (more than 60 days). Now I am getting calls and letters from a collections company vengroff, williams and associates. They are telling me that I have 30 days to respond or they will assume the debt to be valid and file a judgement.

What can I do to resolve this without paying the punks?
