Scammed and refuse to refund

I noticed recently that I was was being charged 13.82 a month on my phone bill for a voice mail service that I had not authorized. I first called the phone company and was told that they were not the party adding the charges and that I needed to contacted the number listed above the charge.

This took me to yet another service, the resource store, that when contacted told me that they were putting it on for another company that liked to take their own business calls and they dialed the number for me. I didnt actually reach them for over a week due to the holiday season. This gave me time to investigate.

After looking through my old phone bills I noticed that we had started getting this charge 5 months before.

We have the basic only on our land based phone line. We have cell phones and only use the home phone for our satellite television and occasional incoming calls.

When I reached them, they were snotty and told me that someone, my husband, had approved this charge. My husband said he knew nothing about it and had not approved nor authorized or signed anything to do with voice mail service.

I asked them if they had noticed that we had never set the account up in the entire time since it had been activated. They didnt care.

Since I am the person in the home that handles and deals with all of the financials (I also receive all of the mail). I would have noticed a service being set up, because I should have received some contact info or at the very least, instructions on how to set up the service. I didnt.

On Jan 2nd, I told them to stop the service and to refund me the entire amount charged to my phone bill. They told me that it was cancelled and that I would recieve a voucher to fill in requesting the refund. 2 weeks later, I got the voucher, which I filled in for 5 months worth of charges.

2 days ago I got my new phone bill and guess what... The charge is still on there. I called and was told that the phone company bills 2-3 months in arrears. I called the phone comapny and told them that I would not be paying that portion of my bill due to the dispute. They told me to keep them up to date, because they have a lot of complaints on this charge.

Today I got a response to my request for refund. I was expecting a refund check and instead got a note stating that in a goodwill gesture they are willing to refund me 12.95 if I sign and return the form. Absolutely not!

I am extremely angry that someone can just start taking my hard earned money whenever they choose without my signature or at least a taped phone call. I will go as far as needed. I know doesnt seem like much money, but its the point that this company is getting by with this. I have noticed complaints on this site dated 2002.
