Unauthorized billing to my phone bill for an 800 line I did not request or order. Ripoff

Surprised is the action word to describe me when I opened my telephone bill. Under OTHER Providers was a charge for $12.95 and with taxes, etc. The total came to $13.01.

Since I had not ordered any toll-free phone service I contacted the number shown on the bill at (866) 527-4971. I spoke with Courtney who was very courteous but questioned me about my phone number, name, and when she got to address my fur on the neck stood up. Wait! YOU start answering ME some questions starting with WHO are you?

She explained someone ordered toll-free (800) service using an e-mail address I use for companies who might sell my email and I would be spammed so I knew it was a fraud.

She also said the next billing would show a similar charge but she would remove both by giving me an immediate credit for the total charges of $25.90.

I thanked her and so we'll see. I also plan on notifying my telephone provider of this practice going on. With a phone bill of almost $200 this represents about 6% and could have easily been overlooked by the average individual. I was never even told what my 800 phone number was.
