Moving Scam

United moving gave me a quote to move my apartment from Beverly MA to Los Angeles CA for 1700.00. I told the sales person that the load would be about 15' of truck space, and thats the number he gave me. I then asked if he was sure he didn't want anyone to come out and look at my apartment, and he said he didnt need to look at it and that would be the price.

When the mover got to my house, I had all ready left for California, and my girlfriend took care of the move. When the truck was packed, he told my girlfriend that it is now 5100.00 for the move. When the moving company called for payment, I said I would like to talk to someone about the price before I pay, and they said they would call me back. I then called them every day since then (shipped June 18th now July 1.) with no call backs.

I also have tried to pay for the load, and they will not even accept payment from me. I have called multiple times with no response, and everyone in the office tells me no one can help me but "Mike" yet, he is never in the office. I was told my things would be delivered on the 28th, with no phone call and no stuff showing up I called them on friday the 29th and they told me my stuff has just left NJ and would be another 10 days to get to L.A.

I just called them today again, Monday July 1, and they tell me that my things will leave tomorrow and will be ANOTHER 10 days. So at this point, I have called the police, and considering my stuff stolen, and will try to file a grand theft report against them. I do consider my things stolen from these people and there is A LOT of money worth of stuff they are stealing from me.
