Rips off reps hired as independent contractors for holiday promotion - We were NEVER PAID!

Leadsinger hired a talent agency called The Avenue Agency, who located reps to work their all in on karaoke microphone promo over the holiday season in Nov and Dec. It's now 18 months later and I have still never been paid my commissions!

This promo was riddled with deception and problems. First we were told we would be paid $20 per hour, plus an 8% bonus on all sales made during your shift, split evenly between all reps working the shift. Thankfully The Avenue paid us for hourlys, but they left us on our own for commissions.

The first page of the training manual says in big bold letters "Rememeber if you are promoting you are making a lot of extra Christmas money." What a joke! It took me 4 months just to get paid my hourly wage! It was almost spring by then and I had to call and bug them many times just to get it by April.

Also it was the most unprofessional event I've ever worked. Nobody knew what was going on. Marketing Service International (MSI) was responsible for training and running the events and they were horrible. I even spoke to the President of the company who was just as out of the loop as the others were.

Nothing but headaches with this one. Costco threw my water away and said I couldn't have it, but expected me to sing for 8 hours on end when my manual in plain English said singers were allowed water... But Costco was oblivious to this part of the arrangement.

The whole thing was a nighmare. Between Leadsinger, Costco, MSI and The Avenue Agency, the right hand hadn't a clue what the left was doing. I will say that once I got through hours of disconnecting the dots to get everyone on the same page, that Costco did try to work with us to make the event go smoother.

MSI and The Avenue left us to fend for ourselves, basically telling us that it was our problem we hadn't been paid, not theirs and we could take Leadsinger to small claims in NY to fight for our commissions.in the end, it was going to cost more to take them to court for the $800 they never paid me, so I just had to get over it.

And to boot, their product is below average. They pitch that you are getting 2000 songs, but over 1/2 of them have no artist and have never been heard of... Not to mention most of the songs are remakes and not the original artists version, so when you do know 'em it's still a disappointment.

My recommendation... Avoid ever working for Leadsinger, The Avenue or MSI... And if you want their mediocre product, be a savvy internet shopper and find someone working from home who sells it for a fraction of what Leadsinger charges you an arm and a leg for on their site and in retail stores. They don't deserve that much profit.
