Bride stolen from, lied to, bait and switched, and then ignored. Wedding day is now brings back bad memories

Shops, Products, Services

My diamond earrings were stolen from my private bridal suite and there was an attempt to steal one of my wedding gifts as well. My bridal suite, which was billed as a very safe place that nobody was authorized to enter, was not locked at any point of the night.

The country club had me rely on having the extra security of surveillance cameras and first claimed that the tapes were being reviewed, but then claimed that they neglected to put tapes in the recording devises at all.

After I filed a police report for the theft, the police informed me that they made two attempts to call the manager at the country club, but nobody called them back. At the end of the night, when just about all of my guests had left, I accidentally dropped an envelope containing a wedding gift. It was returned to me a few minutes later by a staff member, however the envelope was missingit was just a card and check. I guess they thought they were going to get quick cash and when they saw it was a check, they decided not to bother.

I was told that there would be a serious staff meeting regarding the above incidents, however five minutes later I watched various staff members leaving with my centerpieces, but without a meeting.

A week had gone by and the only contact that was initiated by the country club was a generic letter asking me to recommend them to others. I wrote a letter expressing my disappointment and shock in the way they handled my situation by ignoring me and my attempts to get my earrings back and I was then contacted by their attorney who has been nothing but condescending and refused to supply me with their insurance information.

In addition to the theft and attempted theft, Westchester Country Club gave me poor service and breached our contract the day of my wedding.

When I first came in to meet with someone at the Westchester Country Club, I met with a pleasant young lady that gave me a bunch of yeses and promised me that all my concerns would be resolved. She took my deposit and then I never saw her again. She was let go and the banquet manager, with no apologies, let me know that the young lady knew nothing about the business and her promises meant nothing.

I took the time to meet with the banquet manager a few more times and was given the impression that everything would turn out well on my wedding night. Throughout my planning, issues came up and it was extremely difficult to get them resolved as the banquet manager's philosophy is to smile wide, say yes, and then do nothing.

The day before my wedding, I was still dealing with issues of the grounds being unacceptable for a wedding. The gazebo that my ceremony was to be in was covered in colonies of ants, several lights were out on the premises, and the concrete leading to the gazebo had terrible looking rust stains that the Country Club staff had promised to get out, but never did.

When I arrived, the day of my wedding, my cake from a baker that the country club had forced me to use, was absolutely nothing like what I had ordered and paid extra for.instead of an elegant satin finish fondant cake separated by risers and decorated with bunches of calla lilies, I got an uneven chalky cake covered in powdered sugar, with no risers and 1 dead looking flower that resembled a banana peel on top.

At first, the smiling banquet manager said that she would take care of it for me as I wanted my money back, but 2 weeks later I still didn't hear from her and then the response was to take it up with the baker. I also upgraded the alcohol selection since my idea of premium vodka was not the same as the country club's. I paid extra per person to serve Grey Goose Vodka, however somewhere in the middle of my wedding, they conveniently ran out of Grey Goose and my guests were forced to drink their cheaper and lower end brands.

I also paid an extra fee for a Maitre D' that was supposed to be my go to person and help coordinate the wedding. This Maitre D' did not help at all. I only saw her twice throughout the night and that was because I went looking for her when my vendors were complaining that they were not being fed the meals that I paid for.

All my vendors and many of my guests were complaining as to how confusing and unorganized certain events which were all the responsibility of the Maitre D'. To this day, I have not received any recourse for any of the things that went wrong during my wedding.instead, I have been ignored, insulted, and left feeling violated.
