Animal abuser, claims to be a breeder, is not. Check with police

Karen Zakaria the "Dog Lady" claims to be a breeder, she is not. I have checked with the city of Novi, police dept., Oakland County, and Animal Control. Karen Zakaria is NOT licenced she is a fraud. She lives in a nice neighbor hood and always has about 20 dog on hand at all times. Right now she has about 30.

She sells them out of her home and states "puppies and adults exclusively home raised." The enviornment in which the puppies live is hardly a nursery setting. All the puppies from various litters and of various ages run freely together eating and relieving themselves whenever they please. They nurse off of adult dogs that are not their mothers and it is a complete mess inside the house.

The puppies we purchased, unfortunitally, from her had kennel cough, bronchitis, and early pneumonia. We had purchased the puppies on a Sunday night and they were sick by Monday. The emergency visit was 5am 4 days after we purchased them. After a 5:00am emergency vet. Run, I called her to tell her about the illnesses, as she had at least 30 other dogs in her home. I also requested she pay for medical care for the puppies since she sold it to me with the illnesses at only eight and ten weeks of age.

She was not at all concerned about the health of the puppies or whether it might spread to other dogs she was holding. She was only concerned about the fact that I took it to a vet and was now asking her for money for the medical bill. She specifically stated that I "wouldn't be asking her for money if I knew how little profit she made on these puppies" and she also told me I should have taken them to her in the early morning for treatment and she would have administered antibiotics, herself, as opposed to seeking veterinary care.

She is not a breeder and she certainly is not a licensed veterinarian. She is not even licenced to be seeling these animals. These puppies were ill and needed I.V. Hydration along with 21 days of antibiotics and finally two more prescriptions. She is selling very young puppies, some of who are obviously sick, and it's all about the money. She is a suburban puppy mill and needs to be stopped! I would love to see her closed down. Not because of the money I spent, but because she chooses to live in this mess - these young puppies don't get a choice!
