Attempted Ripoff

In searching for a new job after being out of the workplace for a year I contacted Bernard Haldane Associates thinking they were a recruiter that would accept my resume. I was asked to come in for an initial interview in which they fed my ego about how I was under-selling my abilities and why was I not asking for a higher salary. Walking out of the office I thought I could demand $20,000 more than I was previously making! I too received the promise of great things and should be proud to be one of the few clients BHA accepts. For my second interview my husband accompanied me at their request. The slime was just oozing off of the "VP" who had to handle my second interview because my assigned counselor was delayed in a meeting. We received the whole load of BS and then were told the cost would be $3,500 for a three-year contract. He would give us a few minutes to discuss it and left the room. Luckily my intuition kicked in and we decided that we didn't think this was the right approach to finding employment. The "VP" then came back in the room and was very short and curt in dismissing us. My strong belief is they were able to overhear our "private" conversation and knew they lost the sale. One month later I was fortunate to find my current job through an ad on an Internet job posting service. I am very sorry for those individuals who have been ripped off by BHA and I thank God that I listened to my inner voice! The best advice I can offer is buy a resume writing book at a bookstore and hit the bricks! DianeChester, New Jersey
