I hired Nationwide Van Lines to move me from Boston, MA. To Tampa, FL. Because it is the busy moving season, I agreed to allow Nationwide pick up my things two weeks before I moved to gurantee a delivery date. My moving estimate was $1700 for 685 cubic ft.

The movers were supposed to arrive at my apartment in Boston in the morning.instead, they arrived around 8pm and didn't finish loading the van until after midnight. The van they used was not a company van, but rather a 15' Budget rental van. After loading the van, they informed me that I had taken up over 2000 cubic ft and my cost on delivery would be $4155. Since it was after midnight and I could not reach anyone with the company, I could not have my things unloaded off the truck.

Two weeks later I moved. The moving company pulled a no-call, no-show.in fact, it was not until I filed a report with the BBB that the owner finally called to tell me my things would be delivered. The movers arrived a week late in a Budget van with my brand new mattress taped to the outside of the van. They had driven through a rain storm and my mattress was soaked and splattered with mud.

When they opened the van, my stuff had been thrown into it, regardless of the BOLD Red letters that spelled "FRAGILE" on my boxes. My furniture was completely destroyed, and glass from all my framed pictures was left all over the street from when the movers took them out of the van. Everything I owned was either broken or damaged. And the best part of all of this was that in order to actually get my things back in this condition, I had to pay them, in cash, the $4000. The estimated damage he did to my things is over $18,000.00.

The owner of the company, Joshua Lewis, could care less. I am not the first person this has happened to, nor will I be the last. I think he continues to do this not only because he gets away with it, but because he enjoys mocking and degrading his customers over the phone.

In order to file a law suit, I have to file a claim first with his company. After doign so, and providing him with pictures and a video of the INTENTIONAL damage he did to my belongings and the way his movers packed my things into the van, he offered me $630 plus an additional $200 "out of the kindness of [his] heart". I told Joshua that was the best joke I had heard all week, and for a lousy offering of $800, I would not sign a release, but I will hire an attorney.
