Carter, Hammond And Pierce (CHP)
Fraud, Scammers, Said Won $1million, letter looked very professional, wanted me to pay $20 for my winnings

I received a letter stating that I had won 1.2 million dollars and that all I needed to do is send in $20 to confirm and verify my winnings. Carter, Hammond and Pierce a.K.A. CHP is a private reporting firm letting me know that I won the money. They say on a specific date and time I will be delivered a "monetary compendium" via courier upon completion of request form along with fee.

I checked into CHP on the net and pulled up a link to WAscamnet stating this company as scam artists and showing what their paperwork looks like. It was exactly the same as mine. They have been working out of Canada, but with my letter it shows them from Las Vegas, NV.
That link showed a definition of "compendium" as a book of competitions, (summary), of competitions of which you can enter.

Some of those competitions you don't qualify for, and some you do. This book is made up of some legitimate companies needing extra advertising, and some just trying to hook people into looking at their product and so forth.

I would have paid $20 for a book that may not have done anything for me.

Be aware of these SCAMMERS because the letter looked very professional, but there was no internet address or phone number which is the first thing I look for when receiving one of these letters. YOU CAN'T VERIFY THAT IT IS FOR REAL IF YOU CAN'T CONTACT THEM TO FIND OUT.
