Match.com
Legal credit card scam

Shops, Products, Services

I signed up for one month with this company. After the month was over I assumed the account would end. I found out my credit card had been billed for a second month. It turns out if you click on a tiny buton called "terms of use" when you sign up, and scroll down a popup window of 6 pages of fine print, which they know no one reads, they then tell you that you are authorizing an autorenewal indefinitely.

I called match.com and they refused to refund the month's fee or even give me a partial refund.

I complained to my credit card company which told me they could do nothing because of the autorenewal. Apparently if a company wants your money all they have to do is call the bill an autorenewal and the credit company is powerless to charge back the amount.

I have been a good Citiband credit card customer so they finally agreed to credit me the amount, although they did not charge the amount back to match.com.

There needs to be legislation now that internet shopping has become so popular, so that these sorts of autorenewals will have to be clearly stated upfront!
