Protection One
Cancelled 3 yr contract with company after having service for 13 yrs. They are saying that I did not fulfill my contract agreement., KANSAS

In August of 1995 I signed up for alarm monitoring for my house through protection one. The contract was originally signed for 36 months.

In October I called to cancel my service with Protection one, however they continued to send the bill. Upon calling Protection one about the billing they requested that I send them a cancellation letter, so I did.

Starting in the month of January I started receiveing calls from Protection One. "This is a non-emergency call from Protection One. Please call us at 1-877-200-5958. So I did at which time I was told that my original contract with Protection One was for 3 years.

My response was OK, my contract was for 3 yrs., I have more filled my contract with them 11 yrs more. They in turn said that the contract is a revolving acct. I disputed this with them and the representative told me she understood but however the telephone calls never stopped.

Protection One has been relentless with the telephone calls. Everyday I recieve a recorded telephone message. I know it by heart. We have now received a threatening letter from Protection One.

This is what the letter says.
Several attempts to contact you about the past due balance on your Protection One account have been made with no response or payment received. The final balance incurred due to your request to cancel Protection One services (s).

Your agreement for services with Protection One provided for a specific term. Accordingly, upon termination of service, your contract terms may have been accelerated and your account billed through the end of your contract.

Your balance due at this time is $181.44. If payment is notreceived immediately, your account will be placed with an outside collection agency, which could adversely affect your credit.

Accelerated amounts may be reversed if your account i reactivated and your contract terms fulfilled. If you wish to reactivate your account or have any questions, please contact us at 1-877-200-5958.

I have requested a copy of my contract from Protection One and have refuted them on this claim. Now, I have work a long time and my credit standing is pretty good by the standards of Creditors and I do not wish to have my credit by no means discredited because of this company.
