Fraudulent ripoff lying stealing deceitful

I bought a t.V. From RAC as a gift for my husband. I realized from the very beginning that it was an exorbant price compared to the fair market value of the item but I figured it was a luxury item which I couldn't afford in a lump sum so ok. I have made all of my payments for 2 years, the first year or so was fine, but once I had more money invested than was prudent to lose they became impossible! They called several times a day, at all hours, days before my payment was due to "remind" me, they would actually stop at my house just to let me know my payment was coming up, it was distincly bordering on harrassment, but I already had well over the cost of the TV invested so I just wanted to get the deal done, I began asking for payoff amounts, and each time it was different, quite often more than it had been the last time I asked.

Finally, my last month I go to payoff the balance in full and be done with these charlatans, and they tell me I still have like 8 weeks left because they were "nice enough" to give me free weeks 18 months ago. This is utterly and totally untrue, but they insisted that "it was in the computer". Essentially they flat out robbed me of about $200, because I have neither the time or resources to fight them. However, I have learned a lesson, several in fact, 1) Keep better records, 2) if I can pay RAC, I can save the money and buy what I want, and finally that I should do my homework BEFORE dealing with a company. I will NEVER deal with them again, and the sad part is had the experience been legitimate throughout I probably would have. They could have made more money off me by not trying to rip me off. Ironic. I believe they should be REQUIRED to print out on EVERY receipt the amount paid and the amount due, each and every time. If they aren't robbing people this shouldn't be an issue.
