Rent A Center
Ripoff poor business ethics

It all started when my finacee and I wanted a new couch. We went to Rent A Center to get one. They did not have one in the store that we liked. So, we ordered one. Or thought we did. The manager at the time said that she would order it for us and that it would be about 6 weeks.

Well, about 5 weeks later we called to check on the status. The associate told us it was on order. Well, about 7 weeks into the fiasco we hadn't heard anything. I went up to the store and asked about our couch and the new manager said he new nothing about it and that it was never ordered. He told us that it would be another 6 weeks if he ordered it. I told him he better find one in the area because I was tired of getting the run around. He called a local store and found one for us but that it would be another week before he could get it to us... Fine at least we would get it soon.

After only having the couch about 4 months (on time payments), my finacee and I decided to move to Virginia because of my job. We asked the manager if we could have the couch transfered up there. He told us we could not take the couch with us that far that once we got up here to contact the manager of a local store and give his name and information and they could transfer the balance. We get to Virginia and the store managers REFUSES to order us the couch that we had in Texas, on top of that he was by NO MEANS POLITE!

Not only that but when in Texas the application was done in my name, when they entered it in the computer they put my financee first as the 'owner'. Well, when I got laid off the insurance we purchased additional wouldn't cover because I was not the primary, which originially I was suppose to be. So there was 1 1/2 months I was screwed out of. Needless, to say we will NEVER do business with Rent A Center again!!!
