Trans Tech Merchant Group
Ripoff, fraud, lies and deciet

Shops, Products, Services

After a one day training session, I started working for Trans Tech as a Merchant Sales Consultant. This is a 100% commission sales job that I was told should generate income of at least $55,000 a year.

Appointments with four clients would be made daily for me to present a full line of payment processing goods and services. The HR person stated I should close at least three sales each week. Further, we were assured in class that each appointment was made with a business owner who agreed to set aside time for the presentation and had a general interest in the product and service.

My first day of calls consisted me showing up at the merchant's door with them wondering who I was and what I was doing there. Some stated they told the telemarketer they are not interested, but the telemarketer insisted a sales representative drop by since "they were in the area anyway."

At every stop, I was requried to use the merchant's phone to contact my team leader. The team leader would try to sell the merchant even when I explained the situation. This was a strange arrangement, especially when I was sent to a residence to make the presentation. Most appointments took over an hour to drive to, and merchants were generally so disinterested, I was not allowed to do a presentation.

Team leaders often become frustrated with the Rep; the lack of sales results are seen as the Rep's fault, not poor client prospecting and qualifing by the telemarketer.

Do not take a Merchant Sales Consultant job. I spent all my time driving inner city streets to randomly selected merchants to attempt to make presentations they did not want to hear. I was required to purchase a polaroid camera and film, burn gas and waste two weeks of my time. I made two sales (the other reps in my class were not lucky enough to make a single sale), but doubt I will see a dime of the promised commission.

And as best I could tell, Trans Tech is a higher priced product with mutliple monthly and annual fees. Bad news all around.
