Ripoff rude

This office is horrible, rude and unreasonable. I have two debts that they are collecting on. They totaled $101 with the fees assessed. I sent a money order but they sent me a notice saying treble damages were assessed and now I owed nearly $240. I called to let them know I sent payment and they said I was a day late so I was responsible for the new balance. I asked if anything could be worked out and they said no. I let them know that I would not be able to pay the balance for another 6 days. She said it would be fine and asked if I would do a check or debit over the phone. I told her that I wasn't comfortable with doing that until the money was in the bank. She said my fees would go up $300 because they would take me to court. At that point she became rude and argumentative. She said she was trying to work with me but she would note in my account that I was being uncooperative. Her tone was ridiculously rude and obnoxious. I then became upset and raised my voice saying that I was cooperating and that I had clearly stated I would pay the full balance in 6 days but by that point she was yelling at me saying she wasn't going to argue with me. Funny because she had begun arguing with me before I was even upset. Anyway, I asked to talk to a supervisor and she said she was it and that she was going to put it through to begin a law suit against me. Then she hung up on me.

I was so angry but didn't know what to do. I don't know the law or my rights but I do know that I have never encountered a debt collecting agency like this one. I've had a few instances of bad judgment but have always been able to settle them in a cordial manner.

I wonder if this company is even a law office or if I have any options to fight them.
