Ripoff, harrassing phone calls, early morning and late night calls, repeated calls daily

I have been a customer of Fingerhut for many years now and was never late with a payment.in fact all my payments were for more than the minimum amount due every month.

Over the summer I became sick and had to be hospitalized for an extended time. During this time I became behind in my payments to Fingerhut. I did call them and explain my situation and also said that I would get it caught up as soon as I could.

I have been making a payment to them every month. It isn't the required amount but I am trying to get many things caught up. They call me continuely throughout the day and threaten to turn my account over to a collection agency.

Each month they add a late fee to my account. I make the payment before the due date and sometimes I make more than one payment when I can still being before the due date and I am still being hit with late fees. Can they legally do this to me?
