Prime example of greedy price-gouging con game Ripoff

Buyers Beware: Do not trust anyone associated with Churchill Interiors.

We paid up front to purchase a special order to complete a wall unit. The original unit was not purchased with Churchill but that store no longer had rights to order the unit. I had to find another dealer and the closest was Churchill Interiors.

The store manager/salesperson, Gary Popkins, said he called the Canadian manufacturer and the base I wanted was in stock and could be here in 4 weeks. He said he had to charge me $150 (over retail) for a "fuel surcharge" because of the high cost to ship.

When 4 weeks went by, he told us 4-6 weeks because the manufacturer was running behind. After 6 weeks he stopped talking to us or returning calls. At 8 weeks we finally got him on the phone and he said we were obligated under contract and we would see the unit when he did.

We then contacted the manufacturer directly to ask if we were being scammed by the store. They informed us they did have a unit and it was ready for shipment... Period. At this point we knew Churchill's had not officially ordered the unit or it would have been sent. We then faxed a cancellation letter requesting our payment in full be refunded through our credit card.

To summarize, the store did not speak to us or the credit card company. Our credit card company issued a temporary credit pending investigation but it has been almost 6 weeks now until the credit will become permanent because Churchill Interiors still will not communicate.

A ray of sunshine is that we ordered the same piece from a store in Miami on June 21. They called us July 12 to say it was in warehouse for pickup. And, the price was $600 LESS than Churchill's price. What a difference in customer service!

Churchill Interiors also has stores in Sarasota, Tampa and Clearwater. I wouldn't use any of them because the owner of the company gave us the same snotty treatment as his store manager.in fact, he told us not to call him again. It's a wonder they continue to do business with attitudes like that.
