Duplicate Fingerhut Accounts Reported to Collections After Closure

We received our credit report it showed that we had two accounts with Fingerhut and we had only have one both accounts showed that we owed $307.00 in each account. I only know of one account and the shipment never got to us and I call Fingerhut and told them back in 2000 and they closed the account and said we owed nothing due to no shipment now they have reported this to a collection office 5 years later WHAT IS GOING ON. I am send them a letter hoping they will get this off our credit report.
Is there any help with this? The telephone number that I have is no long in service and the fax number is working.
