Intentional lies, decietful customer service, RIPOFF

My husband had recieved a phone call from Member's Edge (I think they got our number from our phone company) offering us voicemail and 4 free airline tickets. My husband told the woman we were not interested in the voicemail and she lied to him and told him he was not saying yes to the v.M. But to the airline tickets. So he said yes, making sure she understood that we didn't want the v.M. One week later I got a letter in the mail that said my v.M. Account was activated and to call to set it up and it had info on how to claim my tickets.

I called customer service and told the woman that I wanted to make sure the account had NOT been activated. She said it was and asked if I'd like to cancel. I said, "Yes, because I didn't authorize this." She told me my husband did so I had begun to tell her about the phone call. Before I could get more than two words out, she cut me off with, "Well, anyway! I canceled your account." I asked to speak with her supervisor and she asked, "What for?" She ended up putting me through to someone's voicemail so I left a message. No one ever called me back.

I got my phone bill today and there are two charges on it, one $15 activation fee and one $15 monthly service charge both dates the same as the day I called to cancel. I believe the woman I spoke to activated the account (and never canceled it) to spite me. I have not yet had a chance to contact anyone about it because it is a weekend, but I doubt I will get anywhere, anyway.
How are these people still in business? There are over 9 pages of reports on this site alone about this company. Is anyone investigating this???
