Ripoff, convincing, money order, dishonest, elaborate scam

Iv'e been looking for a particular style of motorcycle jacket for some time, my wife found one on the web at Royal Merchandising, so i sent them an email.

I know youre a wholesaler, I wrote but i really want this particular jacket. No problem wrote back Mel, I'll sort that out personaly for you. He left a phone number so i called it the next day.

Cheers mate i said, thinking he was doing me a huge favour, do you take credit cards, er no sorry he says gotta be money orders only, weve been ripped off so many times. Thats terrible i say, you just cant trust anyone these days. Duhhhh.

I sent off a dollar money order for $180 which included shipping on the 27th of september 04 and sat back, thinking to myself, what a nice guy that Mel fella is. Then i waited and waited etc etc.

I called 'hey Mel wheres my coat'-'Sorry Mal, the money hasnt arrived'next day 'Hey Mel, I checked, you cashed my money order' - 'oh yeah, the moneys here and weve sent the coat'- 'Hey Mel its 2 weeks later wheres my coat'-

'Im real glad you called, its just been returned to us saying it couldnt be delivered to your address. Gimme your address again and i'll personally see that Tony has all the right details and sends it straight off'.
Phew i think to myself, that Tony guy sounds thicker than a NYC yellow pages, but at least Mel is a nice guy.
'Hey Mel, its 2 weeks later, wheres my coat' - 'hang on let me check, ah heres the paper work, yup it was shipped last week, give it a few more days and email me when it arrives so i know youve got it and youre happy wiht it'.
I sent an email in late december saying. Jacket/refund or i start legal proceddings. No problem they write back, we're looking into it.

The web site is now closed, the phone number is down and the rest is history.

I hate being ripped off. I cant stand being blatantly lied to. It really bugs me that im so far away that i cant call around there, but most of all i hate the way this type of thing chips away at your belief in people to do what they say they will.

Whatch out for this guy, hes way too convincing.
