National Moving Network Ripoff Fraudulent Claims Complete Runaround Moving scam rip-off

My husband and I had three weeks to get everything in order for a move from Buffalo, NY to Dallas, TX. I emailed about 7 different moving companies asking for a quote, and the most reasonable was from Patriot Moving. We received a quote from Stuart Sheinfeld of Patriot for. 45 per pound, with quilt wrapping and four free wardrobe boxes included.

We booked them and paid for our deposit by credit card.

That was the last response I got from Stuart.

The day before my move I received a call from a man that barely spoke English mumbling something about moving, and coming tomorrow. All I could muster was "okay?" and they hung up.

The day of the move I spent all morning in the hospital. I'm pregnant, and I was dehydrated from a stomach flu. When I got home, I asked my sister (she and her one year old daughter housesat for me while I was gone in case the movers showed) if the movers came. They hadn't. It was nearly 5PM, in the winter, in Buffalo.

They finally came at 5:30. They shoved contracts at me from their company (Pony X-Press) that gave a TOTALLY different quote than what Stuart gave from Patriot. They charged. 60 per lb and they looked at my things and estimated that I'd have way more weight than my itemized estimate was. They wouldn't move anything until I signed their contracts (even though I'd already signed one via Patriot).

I was sick and frantic. I called my husband (he was travelling to Dallas by car and wouldn't be back til the next day) crying because I had no idea what to do. He argued with the movers (that CONSISTENTLY MUMBLED and COULDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH!) and finally just told me to sign. What else could we do?

They then started boxing many of the things we were told by Patriot wouldn't need to be boxed (floor lamps, bubble wrapped TV's, etc) and CHARGED US FOR EVERY BOX AND QUILT THEY USED!!!

Then, after about an hour of moving they said the only thing I understood out of their mouths. "Hey, can you order us a pizza? We will pay, we are hungry."

Can you believe that?!?! So I'm still at the verge of tears, orderring pizza. Then once I hung up they said they wanted something to drink, so I gave then the diet Pepsi I had in the fridge.

Did I mention that the movers had offensively bad BO and kept leaving the front door to my apartment open so the freezing air could give me more stomach cramps and make my sister's kid shivver? Not to mention that during the hour dinner break they took on my time they left the truck door open for anybody to start helping themselves to my stuff.

When they finally got back to work, they realized that they didn't know how to take apart my husband's computer desk. They kept on asking me for a key for it in broken English. I had no key. So they asked me how to take it apart because they didn't know. Well, isn't it THEIR JOB to take apart everything? It is right in the contract from Patriot. So I continuously told them "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE IT APART! Move it as a whole unit!". They just stood there staring at me like retards, so I took my pregnant, ill carcass over to the desk and started moving it myself. I nearly got it to the next room before they decided to stop me. After they stopped me I ran to the bathroom to be sick, and MY SISTER had to SHOW THEM HOW TO TAKE IT APART! They chuckled and asked her if she wanted to be a mover.

I asked them before they left (at 10:30 at night) when we would be getting our things and how much it would cost. They, of course, had no idea. What they did know was that when they showed up they would only accept cash or money order.

Well, that's great. How am I supposed to get them cash or a money order if I have no idea how much my total is?! Not to mention that there's no way in hell I'm paying cash for anything.

Yesterday, my husband called Patriot. When you call their 1-800 # they require you to give them your last name. This is so they can direct you to either a sales rep if they haven't stolen your items yet, or put you through to a customer service VOICE MAIL if they've already robbed you of your belongings. And then they don't call you back.

Within hours of posting on another complaint website (I won't mention which one out of respect for this site), we were contacted by the moving company. They are bringing our things in the next few days, and we are going to be charged an extra $500 or so because we were slightly over our weight limit. The quilts and our four wardrobe boxes were free, but they are trying to charge us for packing materials that were unnecessary to begin with (ie, the boxes for the lamps and the wrapped TV's). We'll see what happens from here.

I'm not going to mark this resolved until everything is settled and I see that everything is here and undamaged. If we continue to get screwed by this company, we are joining the Civil Action suit This is just unbelievable.
