Overbilling, fraudulent use of Mastercard, USA Internet Virginia

I terminated Starband when DSL unexpectedly appeared in my area. My contract clearly says that Starband can charge a $99 early termination charge. This is in the nature of a blatant ripoff as Starband was the ONLY form of broadband in my area at the time I signed up. I had to agree or use 24.6 phone lines.

I explained and explained the situatin to the phone people. You can't get through to anybody with a brain at Starband. I finally got the twit to agree that it really should have been $99, not the $599.00 they were trying to charge me. So, I sent them a check for $99. They cashed it. Then my Mastercard bill shows up today with a $599 charge on it from 12/8. How they got my MC account is a mystery. Some years ago when I signed up I must have given them the number as a backup billing. I never used it for Starband bills.in any event, obviously the contract was no longer in force or there wouldn't be a termination charge. I never authorized ANY charges by Starband. Starband has essentially stolen $599 from me.

Their service was lousy. They promised VPN would work, but it never did. There was at least one drop out per week. It is much slower than advertised most of the time. Stay away!
