Ripoff! Special promotion excludes nearly everything

Macy's department store had a recent promotion running 12/31/05 to 1/2/05 (friday to sunday) that said for every pair of old jeans you turned in you would be given a coupon good for $10 off a new pair of jeans which must be purchased in that time frame.

I don't know for sure, but i had hear that the jeans for going to be sent to the tsunami victims and since i had several pair of old jean and a macy's gift certificate i thought it was a good idea for me to take advantage of the offer.

Well the coupon excludes clearance, sale items, special purchase and some specific brands. I saw that on the coupon and was somewhat dissapointed at all the exclusions but decided to purchase any way.

Guess what just about every!!! Pair of jeans was "on sale" "clearance" or "special purchase". The only ones that weren't designer ones like sean jean which they were selling for $59.95 and up. The cheapest pair of jean i saw that qualified (and i spent a couple of hours looking) were some calvin kleins for $39.95. I could have bought levis on sale for $29.99 which is what i wanted in the first place!

There were several customers in the store who were very upset about the way macy's put out this whole promotion everyone i saw and or talked to left the store without purchasing any jeans.

The bottom line is that i gave of 5 useable pair of jeans for 5 $10 off coupons which i could not use. I will go to another dept store to replace my jeans. I hope that at least they are going to a good cause.

Just because macy's puts all these restrictions on their coupon doesn't mean to me that they should make impossible for you to buy a reasonably priced pair of jeans. And they should have an adequate selection of jean in the guidelines for you to choose from. Right now i am very dissapointed customer who believes the company perpetrated a fraud upon it's customers just to garner some good publicity and possible increase in sales through bait and switch tactics.
