Safeway-Bryans Road, MD Poor Customer Service

I have been shopping at the Bryans Road, MD Safeway for 13 years. During that time, I have found the service at this particular Safeway continue to decline. Tonight I went to shop for seafood from the seafood counter. They have a sign that clearly states that the hours that their Seafood Department is open is 10 am until 7 pm. I walked back to the Seafood Department at 6:50 pm and everything was already cleared out of the case. I stood there, waiting for one of the two woman that were standing behind the counter to greet me. Neither said word or even acknowledge the fact that I was even standing there. I went to the Customer Service desk to speak with the manager. The manager informed me that they had to have time to clean up the the Seafood counter and to put things away. I asked the manager what it meant to her that the sign said their hours of operation were 10 am - 7 pm. I also asked her if she was going to close her store an hour before her posted closing time since the store needed to be cleaned up for closing. She had no response.

Numerous times I have gone into the store at 12 pm and the Seafood counter has not been set up. As for the front of the store, it is rare to go to the check out and find more than 2-3 registers open. Typically they are only express lanes. You have customers with five items standing in line with customers with entire carts full of groceries in the same line. The lines for these registers will be down the grocery aisles.

Management seems indifferent to the issues in the store. I walked out tonight, without purchasing a single item and drove to Giant and gladly paid them the money I was going to pay at Safeway. I have a Family Dollar I can drive to if I need bread or milk in a hurry. I will not be shopping at the Bryans Road Safeway at any time in the near future.
