Ripoff

In August of this year I saw an add in the paper for a modeling agency that was going to be here in Austin looking for local talant. Being a shy person, I asked my photographer to come with me, just to make sure it wasn't going to be a big scam or anything. Thinking he knew everything, I listened to him and joined the agency. They promissed me the world. They stated that work would start immediatly and would pay $15/hr or higher depending on if it was a promo or a print. I had to pay them $240 up front for them to put my pictures on their web site. Then I have to pay $20 a month for updating my web page. Not bad I though, considering I didn't have to pay for their comp card or for their photographer to take my pictures. I already had a CD and a portfolio and they said I could use that. This was in August... I haven't seen any work from them since and it's now December.

Like any other person I would think immediatly stood for asap! Like within the month, not 4 months later. This agency is located in Dallas yet all there promo assignments seem to be way out of state somewhere... Now I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have the money to fly myself everywhere. I need someone to fly me out and pay for me to be there, that's what modeling is supposed to be like. Needless to say I'm now trying to get my money back from them, which I probably won't. This is the BIGGEST ripoff I've ever gotten in my life. Also, if someone tells you to send money to them for a "security deposit" on your flight, don't do it. I also got scammed out of $50 by sending someone money to secure my plain ticket. He had stated that last year he bought plain tickets for girls that didn't show up and couldn't get a refund on them, so he asked for a security deposit so he knows you won't bail on him... Then he bails on you. Sucks so much to know you've been scammed like that. Please share my info with every one so they don't get scammed like I did.
