Order was cancelled without notification - MLB Sweatshirt - Cincinnati Reds

I placed an order for a sweatshirt on finishline.com. I had a coupon so I could receive it at a good deal. I went through the whole order and received an order confirmation in my email. I checked on the status of the order and to see if it had shipped out a week later and it still had not. So I contacted customer service to see what was going on, thinking that it was slow because of the holidays. They proceeded to tell me that the order had been cancelled due to being sold out.
I told them that I was never notified that the order had been cancelled and that they were out of stock. When I placed the order, it never stated that they were out of stock. They didn't even offer to put it on back order. They just said that it was out of stock and they cancelled everything. If I hadn't checked up on it, they probably would have not let me know about the cancellation.
