Ticketmaster Entertainment Rewards and Ticketmaster tricked me into ordering some sort of internet subscription at $9.00 a month

Recreation & Entertainment

In the middle of March I ordered tickets for Norah Jones through Tickemaster on their website. From that month until January I received a $9.00 a month charge on my Amex credit card.

The fee was pretty small so I did not notice it, but then I recently poured over a years worth of transactions and realized that I had been incurring this fee. I got Amex to dispute the charge and then I called the 1888231SAVE phone number. I got the same lip service that others had received such as this person / Corrupt-Companies/Entertainment-Reward/entertainment-rewards-scam-by-8E6BY.htm.

I talked to one guy that sounded like he was working the phones in India and he told me he could only give me a three months refund. Luckily I had read the other reports on the usacomplaints.com website so I was prepared for this first attempt. They transfered me then to someone else and he was friendly but tried to of course claim that I had indeed signed up for this service. He said that he could send me the link that I had hit to confirm this subscription. Ultimately, after I read him a few things I had read on this and other websites he agreed to a full refund.

I'll have to check and see if there actually is one on my bill. I asked the guys working the phones if there were others calling and complaining and each guy sort of laughed in agreement that I was indeed not alone.

Anyway, I'm glad I read other reports on this. I am sure there are many others out there who have been taken advantage of. I honestly cannot remember the Ticketmaster transaction back 9 months ago, but I am sure that I did not willingly agree to a $9.00 a month fee and had no interest in signing up for this subscription. To this day I have no idea what the subsription is for.

I blame both companies for this tactic of luring unsuspecting customers into this fee. I consider myself to be computer savvy, so I can only imagine how the older generation has been taken advantage of. This is unbelievable that Ticketmaster would knowingly deceive the public. Perhaps they have eliminated this off their website transaction, but shame on them for trying it in the first place. I'll do whatever I can in the future to avoid the wrath of Ticketmaster!
