I recently went for birth control services at a Planned Parenthood center located at 695 E Yosemite Ave, Suite 2, Manteca, CA 95336. Charlotte H. Brown, an employee of PP, told me that before they would offer services to me I HAD to agree to step away from my husband and go with them for about 20 minutes. I told them that I am not comfortable with this and stated that anything they wanted to say could be said in front of my husband. I was denied service because I would not allow them to force me away from my husband. I sent them a Certified Letter stating that my husband was to be allowed in the room for EVERYTHING and that I consider their refusal to comply with my wishes to be a violation of my legal rights. I have even spoken to an Attorney's office and been told that what Planned Parenthood is doing is not legal. A supervisor, a woman named Lisa Riley, called me back in response to my letter. She also stated that I would not be given services unless I was willing to step away from my husband.in the letter, I told them that I have been raped in the past and do not feel comfortable going with them into any area if my husband is not allowed to be present. The attorney's office I spoke with told me that that, because my husband and I are in a Fiduciary Relationship and I WANT him to be present, Planned Parenthood is Discriminating against me by not allowing him to be present and making their service to me conditional upon my agreeing to step away privately with them.
