Poor Customer Service: Rude, Insulting, and Harassing

I am in the process of finding a gym and decided to try out the La Fitness near where I live and work. I went to the Hollywood LA Fitness for a trial membership. I was told that since I didn't bring in a "Pass" I could work out only that day as a "courtesy." I proceeded to workout and when I came back to retrieve my driver's license I was held hostage for about 30 minutes while the sales representative pressured me to join. When she could not convince me to join, she brought in her manager who simply reiterated what she had just said and wasted another 15 minutes of my time.

I was trying to be courteous and tried to tell them that all I wanted was to try the gym without signing any contract of any sort. Apparently they could not understand this simple request and finally I left feeling exhausted as if I had just tried to purchase a car at a used car lot.

Two weeks later, a friend convinced me to try out the LA Fitness near her work and I was very reluctant to try again. I called and spoke with a sales representative who was actually very nice and informative and we made an appointment to meet. My plans changed and I was able to come in early to try out the gym. I met with the sales manager and he was not at all friendly.in fact, I felt as if I was taking up his time. He was very abrupt and displayed no facial expression that I could recognize. I was informed by him that I could only use the machines to work out with... No classes or wet areas were included in the daily pass.

So I worked out and decided that the gym was too old, messy, and run down. I went to get my driver's license back after working out on the machine. The manager asked me why I did not join the Hollywood gym. He said he found out that I had tried the gym at Hollywood and wanted to know why I had not told him before. I felt no need to tell him of my experience at Hollywood beforehand because I was checking out the staff at Westwood. I wanted to see how they treat potential customers. He said he didn't want to be rude and charge me the $15 daily pass fee so he "let" me work out anyway.

I told him that I was disgusted by how I was treated at the Hollywood facility. I believe that the gym and how I will be treated after I join a gym is reflected in the people that work there... I told him that I felt harassed and pressured.

After that discussion, he asked me if I was joining the gym. I was shocked! After he had insulted me by saying that I was a liar for not telling him I had tried the Hollywood gym. Did he really expect me to say "yes"?

Spare the agony and pain... Do not go to LA Fitness! The people are pushy, rude, and insulting. It's just not worth it.
