Freshman Longhorn Soccer Team misrepresented themselves false local address took money but took no orde

Politics & Government

It seems that the urchins used by this company are now lurking in Austin, Texas. Two young girls came by my home last night (11/13/7) and said that they were freshmen at the Univ. Of Texas and played for a soccer "club" team. It sounded fishy already. They gave the same line that has been mentioned in the other consumer complaintss: they named a nearby street, said the order was tax-deductible, said they represented a local sports team, said they had to turn in the numbers at 8a in the morning, etc.

I quizzed them on their street, the "private" ownership of their club team, the origins of their accents (SE US, not Texan), how they were getting around the neighborhood, and how I could claim a tax write off if I was purchasing something.

They even used the line, "what most of your neighbors are doing is buying and donating children's books."

The fact that they couldn't add $48 $54; first it was $154 then it was $100, was another clue.

When I got back into my house and could read the order form in the light, I immediately started doing the research. They don't live around here. There is no "club" team for Freshman girls soccer. The order states explicity that there is no tax benefit, there was nothing on the order detailing the books I purchased, etc.

I cancelled my check this morning.
