Frustrating Call back experiences

I am extremely frustrated with the DMV California system. I placed a call at 1 800 777 0133 to check the status of my registration renewal sticker which I haven't received yet (I renewed on 12/22), three months back. However when I made the call and opted for the call back option and the "system" called me back after 2 hrs, even after pressing "1" which lets you to speak with a technician, I was said, " you have tried the maximum number of tries" and "GOODBYE" and it happened two three times. I have wasted atleast a couple of hours in the past 2 weeks to make a call to the DMV but failed!!! Please help.
