We have been cold called several times by these people, claiming to be based in Croydon. They try to persuade you to invest in the Carbon Credits market. As anyone can find with 5 minute googling the FT and the Guardian financial pages, the Carbon Credits market is totally unsuitable for the amateur individual investor, to put it mildly. It is a very unstable, unpredictable and in reality (although LCN will claim different), unregulated market. If they are actually going to buy any credits with the money they take from you they will almost certainly be untradable and therefore worthless. The sales people are all extremely pushy and in some cases highly aggressive and offensive. One particularly loathsome guy's sales pitch was to abuse me for wasting his time by asking questions rather than investing immediately. He wouldn't tell me his name when I asked.
At one point I let them send me a brochure just to get them off the line: it amounted to a vague ramble though the concept of Carbon Trading and some highly positive, but unreferenced quotes.
I doubt anybody would be unwise enough to give any money to this clearly highly suspect company, but I'm making this post because I am anxious that an elderly or vulnerable person might conceivably be bullied into parting with money by their outrageously aggressive sales techniques and bare faced lies. I'm not sure what law they are breaking by acting in this way, but I am sure that they should, by rights, be prevented from (attempting to) trade as they are clearly unfit to do so.
