Continental Services
Attempted to defraud

Miscellaneous

On Friday 10/08/04, I received a call from an agent on behalf of Continental Services; the agent stated that this was a credit restoration company and that the reason they were calling was because I had been denied credit in the past 6 weeks. She said I had been approved for a Mastercard with a $2500 limit with 0% APR, no annual contract fees, no monthly fees (first red flag!)

She said she just wanted to "verify" that my personal information was correct, at which point she proceeded to repeat my address, social security number and date of birth (she already had the information). She went on with her spiel for a few minutes (reading off her cue cards, no doubt) at which point she asked me if I had any questions. Oh yes, she forgot to mention the one-time processing fee of $329.80! At this point, I sensed things were not kosher, and I asked her for the name and phone number of the company, which she provided. But when I asked her for her name specifically, she panicked and hung up on me! I immediately called the 877-313-0758 number and got the generic voice mail message.

I have since closed my bank accounts and cancelled my credit cards to prevent these scumbags from making any unauthorized debits. I have contacted my local police department, the Attorney General's office, and also the Federal Trade Commission. It seems that there have been so many complaints against this company that Robin Richardson of the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC is conducting an investigation and any complaints should be forwarded to her; her number is (202) 326-2798.
