We advertised a rental property on Gumtree, received an SMS to email Joan as she was interested in renting the unit for 6 months.
I emailed, she said she will put into PayPal Account the money, we received an OK from Paypal. Next day we got an email for us to pay shipment of her belongings from Italy $726 $60 Western Union fee, she has put the additional fee in the paypal account which paypal once again confirmed. We then proceeded to forward the $785 to an address in Milano subpossible the shipping company.

Same day got another email asking for more money!!! Then the penny dropped.
I understand that you can't get our money back but we want to put out a warning to others and maybe you can chase the contacts we have given
