I am appending to this message a copy of the email sent to me offering a part-time position with the payroll processor Paylocity. Since it seems similar to a scam that victimized me earlier this year I looked the company up on the internet and found their website. I called their main office in Arlington Heights, IL, and no one there recognized this person's name.

Herewith follows the text of the email that I received from him earlier this afternoon:

Dear Prospective Employee,
My name is Thomas Griffins. I saw your resume and I would like to
offer you a job position
in PAYROLL starting as a part time job.
As an independent payroll officer in contract, your basic duty is to
write and mail out payments to billed clients on our behalf.

basic and primary duties/responsibilities

- Write and mail/deposit out payments to clients/workers on behalf of
the accounting department.
- Mail out payments to individual clients.
- Direct deposit of funds to clients
SALARY:
Wage is 900$/monthly commission with a reimbursement package of
$199.99 for supplies payable after a month and successful completion
of a month job with dedication and efficiency your job will become full time.

Note: This is a part time work at home job and it is indifferent where
you work from.

One indication of this person's lack of legitimacy is in how he writes the compensation offered: 900$
