Broken furniture

Above named company moved our furniture on May 23, The drivers did not explain the damage was. 60 cent per pound. No paperwork was shown prior to them loading furniture. We explained tha the glass doors on china cabinet were curved and very fragile. The driver stated that he knew how to move without damaging this piece. The door was cracked in the middle and we are unable to replce this piece. We paid $859.00 at Star furniture. The company no longer makes this piece. My Armoir was also damaged from the movers strapping it too tight. The secretary was broken when the move pressed down on the leg and broke the front leg. We are unable to order a new leg as this is no longer being made. When we were asked to sign the invoice we refused due to it stating they only paid 0.60 per pound. There letter states we elected not to taake out increased Carrier Liability. We were never given this option. I filled out the form to be reimbursed reimbursed for my damaged furnitureand listed the weight of the pieces. Recieved a check for $210.00 stating my furniture weighed 310lbs. My armoir weighes approx. 500 lbs. My china hutch weighs the same and my secretary weighs approx. 110lbs. I do not agree with their calculations. I want to warn other to ask for the invoice before they load one piece of furniture or you will end up losing the value of your furniture. Or it may not be made any longer to replace what is damaged.
