Acked out of handshake deal

Miscellaneous

12 years ago, I leased a BMW from this company. At the lease end, they wanted to charge me $800 for a new set of tires because of "insufficient remaining tread life" THIS IS A MONEY MAKING GAMBIT OF BMW. Few if any other companies play this game. Nevertheless, after leasing 2 other cars from a different company, I again wanted to try a BMW, but knowing about their end of lease behavior, I made it a condition of the lease on the new car that there would be no questions asked about tires when the car was returned, as dealers have ways of burying such costs.

Unfortunately, I was naive enough to believe that because they were vending a higher quality of car, they were a higher quality of dealership. I got nothing in writing, only the handshake promise of my salesman, Mr. Frank Cantave.

When I returned the car, he remembered the promise, but when BMW sent a bill for $900.00 in replacement tire charges, he quickly developed amnesia, and said that he had never made any such deals. He was supporrted by his sales manager, who also refused to step up to the plate.

To keep my good name and credit, I paid the monies, but beware before you deal with such untrustworthy people.
