I was prompted by a mailing from M&I Bank to check my credit as a precaution because one of that bank's laptops had been recently stolen. I got my credit reports from the other two credit reporting agencies without any issue. With Experian, however, I was rather confused by their web interface and could not determine why I was being charged $1.00 when the others did not charge anything. I thought, oh well, it's only a $1.00. I never ever got any kind of email from them explaining that, and would have thought nothing of it except that a couple of weeks later I noticed a RECURRING $17.95 payment had been set up on my debit card by Experian! I called my bank, and they said they could not cancel it without cancelling my debit card altogether. I then called Experian (which definitely was NOT easy to do, they bury their contact information pretty well on their website). After waiting awhile, I was connected to a CSR who took my information and tried to sell me yet another subscription for another service of theirs. I told her I was only calling to CANCEL my service, which I had never intended to set up in the first place. She then tried to suggest I keep the subscription, and I told her that if she did not cancel it immediately, I would be contacting the Kansas attorney general's office. She then said she would arrange to have it cancelled and would send me a confirmation. I've heard nothing since.
