Abercrombie & Fitch froze the merchandise cards I received after I returned items at the store, about 4k in total. I have emailed the company, and they have been communicating back well, but they gave no explanation of why they froze my cards. The last email they sent me said "the cards can't be unfrozen." I have the receipt from when I returned the items and received merchandise cards for them.
