I found a nice swing set on Craigslist for my kids... The picture was of a mint condition swing set. Supposedly it had been at the house when he bought it, and he did not need it. (I later found out that he posts ads for swing set assembly and sells used ones on the side... Not exactly truth in advertising).

The deal was to have it delivered and set up for the set fee. Chris called in the early afternoon, we agreed he would come by that day to set it up... But by the way, the set is four years old. But according to Chris it is in great condition, no rot, perfect just like the picture. I ask for a photo to be emailed, but that was beyond him.

He arrives about 6 hours later, even though at 2:30 he said he was leaving to go pack up the swingset (oh by the way it's not et up like in the photo, it's already disassembled). When he arrives, it's dark out. But he says he canstill do it in about an hour with his truck lights.

I actually felt bad for him (I'm an idiot), I didn't want him to have to drive all the way back home and re-schedule for anothe day. So I tell him go ahead but I want to look at it when he's done.

When I notice he's packing up I go out and try to take a look. But even with the lights, I can't see details. And I have neighbors, so I just wanted the guy out of my yard. I figure I can fix whatever he does wrong anyway since it SUPPOSEDLY in great condition.

The next day (thank god it was afte work, because I would have been in a foul mood if I had seen this in the morning and had to work knowing I'd been lied to) I take a look and see that it is not the same set as in the photo... And it's in beat-up condition. Rickety, broken rungs on the ladders, missing swings.

When I call him, he tries to tell me he told me that the photo wasn't of this swing set, just "one like it." Even though when he got there I specifically asked him if it was the same set and he said yes, just 4 years older. And he's sticking to that story, denying anything is broken, etc.

I'm an idiot for trusting him. And I should have investigated before agreeing to anything. He's got quite the reputation for shoddy work with his moving company.
