Hobby Lobby in Corpus Christi, Texas
Looking over receipt for products purchased - Arts and crafts, etc

Miscellaneous

After paying for over $65.00 of merchandise, the store is closing, I'm walking to my car the Manager (a gentleman) radios to his employee to stop me and look at my receipt for my purchases. This store manager had just seen me pay the cashier, go through the door he had open for the last customers to exit. He had the employee who was getting carts from the parking go up to me ask for my receipt. As I was getting my receipt to prove I had paid for each and every item, the manager go ahead and just bring her back up here. Before I could even produce my receipt the manager radio'd for him to help me with my cart and bring me back up to the store. Mind you I have a broken foot and by now I am in alot of pain. I am 60 years old, an attractive and well educated woman, so now I'm being brought back into the store from my car so this man can review my receipt. We went over my receipt item per item. I have shopped at this store for over 15 years, talked to this manager numerous times, I am polite and honest and I always pay for what I buy. I do not steal. Needless to say we went over my receipt, every thing paid for. I could not understand this treatment, he had just seen me pay for everything, go past him and as I get to my car he sends an employee to check my receipt and before I can even get my receipt back out of my purse he just tells him, just bring her and the cart back. I was insulted, not only did he not apologize, I never knew what and why all of this. Besides that if someone is looking for something in Hobby Lobby, I usually know where its at and I help them find it out of just plain courtesy. Hobby Lobby wonders why they can't keep employees because yes they are treated poorly and when I applied for employeement with this store for instance, I never got an interview or second look. Too old I guess. I am a full charge bookkeeper, whom would have made a great manager for that store even replacing him. The manager never said one word about why he questioned me, the receipt, what he was looking for much less apologizing. I was in a great deal of pain from a broken set of toes and healing foot and dealing with this was the last straw. I feel sorry for his employees whom do not usually stay employed too long at this store and I can see why. Rude and uncalled for behavior. For now I will thing twice about going there for anything. And if I am going to be questioned, reviewed and made to feel like I stole something, then this store better make sure that I am stealing.
