Really $0 damages, had to submit with an amount, but would have been $700 plus shipping. Peter James replied to my craigslist posting and has been trying to steal my ring (for his cousin's wedding) with fake PayPal deposits and with instructions to send it as a document to "avoid customs." He agreed to pay $100 over price for shipping & insurance, but then did not want to ship as a ring. Funds would not be released into my account until he had shipping tracking number. Funds were never deposited. I knew this was a scam, but played along. I have forwarded the fake PayPal emails to PayPal, and will register them on abuse@craigslist.org. Neither Usps or Fedex will ship jewelry, coins and a list of other items to Nigeria. I've recently learned Nigerian scams have kept evolving and seem to be run by ruthless gangs. He did text me from 612-851-6933 several times supposedly in Minneapolis. It shows up in same place on all reverse lookups, but haven't paid to see name. Here are the contents of two of the PayPal fakes, confirmed fake by PayPal. He did get the service@paypal.com right. Others have not. Per the www.419scam.org website, accountant.com is often used by criminals in scams, the 419 name coming from the appropriate part of the Nigerian criminal code.
